  • Monday’s Roundabout Theatre

  • Tuesday’s WBD Mentors

  • Friday’s Remote for WBD Virtual Career Panels
    (weeks 1, 2, and possibly 3)

  • Times of Instruction/Studio Work: 10am - 2pm (12pm-12:30pm lunch)

  • Total Hours of Instruction/Studio: 100 hours

  • What did you enjoy the most about this experience? 

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING ABOUT SDI?

 

I feel that the SDI program allowed me to get some insight into the industry and a possible career path for me in the future. I hadn’t considered advertising/marketing prior to the program and while I’m not entirely sure that I would like to do it as a career, it’s good to have had the opportunity to explore that option. I also learned some teamwork skills in the program as we had to divide our campaign amongst ourselves to meet the deadline. I can't say that I had the joy of actually going to Hudson yards it is something I would’ve enjoyed as well.

 

I enjoyed the experience and all the I made friends along the way. I learned so much about everything from marketing to how to use different adobe applications. I enjoyed presenting, making art, creating the presentation, researching, working on a team, and all the fun activities and goodies along the way. My favorite parts were probably working with my team even after work hours and then later presenting all of our hard work together.

 

I liked that it was an in-person experience blended with online meetings in order to engage with different groups of people interchangeably. I also liked that while it was still an internship, students still received payment for the intensive course. Finally, I appreciated that we got to see and interact with industry professionals who were able to help us achieve our goals during the program.

 

I'm glad that I had the opportunity to hear from industry professionals about their experiences and how their journey took them to their current jobs. I also enjoyed having the opportunity to meet and become friends with fellow students from other high schools. I greatly appreciate the generosity of HBO, for sponsoring the end of program celebrations and the additional snacks (such as popcorn) during the duration of the program.

MENTORS & PANELISTS:

Project Mentors will meet with a small group of students once a week (Tuesday 11am - 12:00pm for 1-2 hours)

 

  • Panelists: 

 

Panelists will be asked to attend our Career Day Workshops (30-45 minutes on Friday mornings)

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project Manager (PM): Teachers

 

The job of an Advertising Project Manager involves planning projects and overseeing production within set deadlines. The manager will coordinate with clients, stakeholders and the entire advertising team to achieve advertising goals.

 

  • Strategy Directors (SD): 1 Young Professional

 

Responsible for setting the overall direction and vision for an advertising campaign by conducting market research, analyzing consumer data, and studying trends to identify target audiences and create messaging that resonates with those audiences. 

 

  • Creative Directors (CD): 1 Young Professional

 

A creative director determines the creative vision of a brand or project and manifests that vision through digital products.
